But it looks like we have found a home. Not a yurt, shipping container, straw brick or 1850’s log home – nothing so unique and exciting. Just a basic, very generic 3 bedroom, 2 bath mobile home. It’s about 14-15 years old and in generally good condition so unlike the other home we found it doesn’t need walls patched up (except in a few very small spots), windows replaced or other significant repairs. It was listed on Craigslist for $12,000 and the owners have accepted the offer I made of $10,000. The mover says it can be moved without any problems.
The current owners are in the process of buying a stick and brick home and won’t close on it until next month so we have some more time to continue fundraising, get the septic system installed and arrange to have our belongings shipped from California. Once it is moved in mid-July we will remove the carpet and put in non-carpet flooring, purchase a used refrigerator (stove, washer and dryer come with the home) and it will be move-in ready! We should be in our own home just in time for the 4H fair and the beginning of school for the kids.
Keeping my fingers crossed that this one will work out for us!
