I welcome folks to pass on a link. So far, according to the blog stats, nearly all the viewers come from a fairly small common group so readership is pretty limited. Someone asked why I even blog- my response to that is it’s nearly my only opportunity for an ‘adult conversation’ – although it’s mostly been a monologue so far!

i feel that it could be used as a real-time wake up call to our fellow citizens; like, NPR could link to your blog or a publisher, and keep it as a very real account of what it’s like to be displaced, as a hard-working single parent, with children who need you; someone who’s been employed career-wise, now living on the fringe. honestly, it’s gut-wrenching to me and it seems as though if the right venue could be found, a wider audience could read and understand (and maybe even help and therefore provide your ending)…but the ‘what’s happening right now’ aspect of it, and the uncertainties you write of, the worries, etc, are all so raw and things that families like yours are finding themselves facing. i have no contacts to help you…but it feels very much like an NPR venue to me.

Thanks Jeannie! I think in order to get a book deal our story would need a dramatic ending! Something like winning a lottery ticket or driving the trailer over a cliff a la Thelma and Louise! I’m afraid instead our story will be more like Benjamin Roth’s “The Great Depression: A Diary” – a nearly decade long tale of depression-era concern and struggle among the middle, professional class.

your blog is moving, emotionally so. you are a wonderful writer. i’ve seen lesser writers with “weaker” topics get a book deal. seriously. i have no idea how to help you do this but it seems to me that in these times, an accounting of your situation would make a compelling read. i wish i had some connections but i’m just here, wishing you well, us all, well.
